River’s Story The Higher Way
Before there was a mission, there was a rescue.
My name is River. I am 19 years old, and what you are joining was born out of a life I once believed had no future.

Where my story began
I was born and raised in Dayton, Nevada, a small town with fewer than 5,000 people. There was love in my family, but our home was also deeply chaotic. Fighting, addiction, instability, and fear shaped more of my early world than safety did.
As a teenager, I carried depression, anxiety, panic attacks, deep shyness, and a constant feeling that I was not enough. I had no real friends. I felt isolated from the world around me, and during ninth grade I was not even enrolled in school. I was alive, but I did not feel connected to a future.
The turning point
Losing the will to live
I could not see beyond the pain I was in. I did not know how my life could become something different, and I did not yet know Jesus in the way I know Him now.
A life preserved
“I had no will to live. It was only Jesus’ will inside of me that kept me alive.”
At the time, I was not born again. I did not fully understand what was happening. But looking back, I know the life of Christ was holding me before I knew how to hold on to Him.
Searching for something real
I was searching for spiritual truth, but I still did not have the life, peace, or identity I needed. In the middle of that search, I finally prayed with honesty:
“Whoever You are, reveal Yourself to me.”
Jesus became undeniable
During a conversation about Jesus, something opened inside of me. I began crying as the truth became real: Jesus is alive. He was not an idea, another spiritual option, or a distant religious figure. He was the One who had already been preserving my life.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Being born again did not mean every part of my life changed overnight. It meant I was no longer walking through it alone. Jesus began renewing my mind, healing the way I saw myself, and teaching me to recognize His voice and presence.
I began discovering that my life had meaning beyond the pain I had known.
I learned that my identity was not decided by rejection, fear, or my environment.
God began transforming the places that once broke me into places from which I could serve others.
From testimony to mission
Over the years that followed, God gave me mentorship, spiritual training, and room to grow in hearing and seeing Him. He placed a dream in my heart to help brokenhearted people renew their minds, discover who they are in Christ, and stop merely surviving their lives.
The Higher Way is my continued yes to that dream. Dream Life Daily is one expression of it: a place where truth is not only taught, but practiced in the quiet, ordinary moments that eventually shape an entire life.
