Stop Treating Your Assignment Like an Accident
The thing you keep seeing, sensing, imagining, or returning to may deserve more honor than you have been giving it.
A lot of people move through life as though what is inside them is random.
The desire is random.
The dream is random.
The burden is random.
The thought that keeps returning is random.
But what if it is not?
What if the thing you keep dismissing is actually a clue?
God is intentional.
There is design in you.
There may be a reason certain things move your heart.
A reason certain problems bother you more deeply.
A reason certain ideas make you feel alive.
A reason one particular dream keeps returning even after you try to dismiss it.
Sometimes restlessness does not mean you are lost.
Sometimes you feel restless because you have been treating your assignment like an accident.
“Maybe one day.”
“Maybe when I feel ready.”
“Maybe when I am more qualified.”
“Maybe when I have more money.”
“Maybe when I feel confident.”
But your assignment does not begin when everyone validates it.
It begins with agreement.
“God, if You placed this in me, I am going to stop treating it as insignificant.”
God often gives the seed first.
The burden first.
The desire first.
The small idea first.
The quiet nudge first.
And if you dishonor the seed because it does not yet look like the tree, you may never learn how to steward its growth.
Hidden does not mean accidental.
Small does not mean meaningless.
Unseen does not mean unimportant.
David was in the field before he was in front of Goliath.
What looked ordinary was still training.
Courage was being formed.
Worship was being formed.
Trust was being formed.
Skill was being formed.
And the same can be true of the season you are in now.
Maybe you are “just” learning.
“Just” practicing.
“Just” writing.
“Just” serving.
“Just” creating.
“Just” showing up.
What if the “just” is the training ground for your assignment?
When you begin seeing your assignment as intentional, you start stewarding it differently.
Your calling stops becoming something you touch only when inspiration arrives.
Your voice stops becoming something that matters only when people applaud.
Your dream stops becoming something silly simply because it is still unfinished.
You start taking faithful steps.
Write the page.
Record the video.
Start the conversation.
Learn the skill.
Build the structure.
Pray into the vision.
Do the next thing that matches what you believe God has given you.
Not from pressure. From honor.
Your assignment does not have to look like anyone else’s.
Some people speak publicly.
Some build privately.
Some teach.
Some create businesses.
Some nurture families.
Some write.
Some encourage.
Some carry wisdom into rooms nobody else will ever see.
Comparison can make you dishonor the shape of your own assignment.
Heaven does not measure only by visibility.
Faithfulness matters.
Obedience matters.
Agreement matters.
Stewardship matters.
Your life is not random. Your assignment is not accidental.
Ask God:
“What have You placed inside of me that I have been underestimating?”
Then look again.
Look at your desires differently.
Look at your gifts differently.
Look at the burdens that keep returning differently.
There may be a divine thread running through your story that has been there for much longer than you realized.
And what God has placed in you deserves to be stewarded with honor.
Stop Leaving the Dream in Your Head
Honor What God Has Already Put in You.

Father, teach me to honor what You placed in me.
Father, thank You that my life is not random.
Thank You for the gifts, desires, ideas, burdens, dreams, and experiences You have woven into my story.
Show me what I have been underestimating.
Show me where fear, comparison, insecurity, perfectionism, or waiting for validation has caused me to dishonor the seed.
Teach me to recognize what You are forming even while it is still small.
Give me wisdom to steward what is in my hands.
Give me courage to take the next faithful step.
I do not need everyone else’s permission to honor what You have given me.
Let my yes become practical.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
